10/4 Sharking
« on: October 05, 2018, 06:06:14 AM »
Broke the inlet yesterday around 0700 with my buddy Brian in hopes of finding some sharks. Seas were flat with 3' swells at 12 seconds. Was able to turn a comfortable 30k on the way out. Drifted the west and east walls of Monsters Ledge without a sniff. Water was clear green and 69F. As forecast winds picked up later in the morning. After burning our chum we moved in to the SRR. I marked tons of sea bass on the rock piles and managed to lose two decent fish (I'd imagine blues) on an Ava57. Brought in one nice size seabass caught on an Ava57. I am certain the reef will be packed on Monday!

Came home in a washing machine of 4' from the SW making for an 18-22k ride.

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

Had a good day with seabass on SRR last month. All were 18-22". I was on the wrecks in the southeast corner. Of course that was a couple days after the season closed
