raritan bay 6/7
« on: June 07, 2020, 04:08:09 PM »
Set out a little late this morning. Made a dash towards earle. Made a couple drifts across the channel. Marked bait but didn't see anything else. Headed towards AH and set up on a drift. Pulled up a kingfish that hit a flatfall jig. Next up was a short fluke. The a fat sea robin that got stripped for bait. Had a ton of taps and a handful of violent strikes Then my friend connects with a nice beefy 24" fluke.  After that a few more shorts and the boat traffic picked up and killed it all. Once that spot went cold, saw some bunker blasting so started playing with them a bit. Had a cocktail blue on that shook himself at the boat. Had a lot of nice marks but couldn't get them to bite.  Wind kicked up a bit and we took our beating to get back.

Thanks guys. The water was 1000 times cleaner than last weekend. If you guys are going after seabass,I highly recommend picking up a couple flatfall jigs. They go after them unlike anything I've ever used before. And every trip it seems like we find another species that'll take them. Tight Lines
