As far as My freshwater lunar expertise goes, I've ALWAYS caught my biggest Largemouths and Smallmouths a day or two before, though a day or two after the full moon. The numbers of fish caught is also increased. Try it, I can Gaurantee you will catch more and bigger fish. This time also seems to increase the hookups off the beach for me as well. according to my log.<'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

With me, I fish when I can get out reguardless what the weather, moon, or tide is.  The summer goes quick and ya have to get out there as much as you can.  If the moon and tide theory reveals that the fishing is going to suck, does that mean your not going to go.... A day of not catching is still a good day as long as your on the water.

I'm sure there is some kind of difference in the bite during different moon phases, but I have not sat down and decifered this as of yet.

I can tell you that there will be a stronger current at the new and full moon phases, thus, dictating the use of heavier sinker weight to hold bottom.

I have noticed 2 days before and 1 day after Full the bite is weak.

New moon very good and high tide at 1 hour befor or after sunrise.

Nice link, Mike.  For those into crabbing, moon phases are a huge deal as well.  Pretty much the whole season's schedule seems to be based on them.

Inshore I never give it a second thought. When I can get out, I go, regardless of what the moon phase currently is.
Offshore is a whole other ball game. I try and plan tuna trips either 3-4 days before or after the full moon.
The full usually brings on strong current and its tough to present a natural looking chunk bait when the current is cranking along.
This year, mid Sept and early Oct are looking GOOD!
  Who's in???   ;D

Are you hinting for another article?

I could put one together if you like.  It would be dealing with full moon and new moon pull on the ocean as well as being in phase or out of phase with the sun as in the Spring and Fall tides and why they are so drastically different than the rest of the year.

I had to study this in the weather related courses I had to take with Emergency Management and Hurricanes.

It sounds to me like the article is half written.

If not, what are you waiting for?   TT^

I to can not put to much together as far as a better bite, but as Capt. Joe says Higher tide and a lower tide along with a stronger current.
Now I have experienced a better bite with a approaching front.  t^

Hi Dan,

I am trying to load you up with enough articles so I don't have to think about it during the summer months when I would probably rather be out fishing the beaches.

Besides I have an ulterior motive down the road.

BTW I sent you another article on teasers, check your email. grtn slt
