Line Stripper
« on: March 13, 2008, 01:26:10 PM »
I made my own line stripper and figure I would share it. I will start with the Material list
1 old 5lb Line Spool
1 Old Plastic 1 lb. Coffee Can Lid
1 3/8 X 8" Bolt
1 3/8 Nut
2 3/8 Washers
1 Piece of 1/2" X 1" PVC Pipe (Spacer)
The Hardest part of this was removing the plastic flange off of one end of the old line spool. This needs to be done so you can slide the old fishing line off of the spool. The coffee can lid replaces the flange that was removed from the spool. I Insert mine into my cordless drill and clamp the reel down. I made mine just from STUFF I had laying around the basement, it seems I am always tinkering with something and have stuff laying around. Just thought I would share this with everyone.  TT^

Skip, you surprised me, when I saw line stripper, I thought for sure I would see a chorus line of girls with balloons or feathers in front of them.   TT^

That is a pretty cool contraption you built there.   t^

Good idea, I have seen something similar in a fishing magazine using a plastic 64oz bottle as a spool and a 1/4 bolt or screw fastened through the cap. Yours is much better though. ;)
Try sending that in to the tips section of a magazine and you may win something. chrz chrz
