Thanks.  Last year I fished October into November and did okay with a few keepers and lots of action.

I just love doing it so wanted to find out best time to get started. Since I drive a little I'll start in September and see what happens.

Yeh, I am sure he could school me pretty good, ha, ha

Love those crisp fall days and catching blackfish.

Oh well back to fluking

Thanks again.

Hit up the canal again tonight around 6:00.  Fished for about an hour till I finally caught something.  My first ever striper haha. Yea thats right I said it, never caught a striped bass before. Actually caught 3 of them within a half hour.  All shorts of course, didn't measure the first one in the photo but the other 2 were 17 and 19inches.  Great time!  And I somehow snagged a tiny starfish with my lure on the 7th "last cast before I go".

Fill in the blank please, haha. My guess is "wall". Yes I was, so far against it I got snagged once and took me a good 20 minutes to get it free. Didn't want to lose the lure because I packed lite (only brought 2) and it seemed to be lucky haha.  The star fish I snagged in the middle, guess he was just floating by.

I thought the same thing at first.  But if you reread it, it doesn't say he was alone or on the bike at 3am.  Just that he brought it to the shop on the bike.  Maybe he was out with dad overnight and came to the shop on the bike the next day.  Rich's shop is quite a ride from the canal on a bike carrying a big fish.  We don't know the whole story.

The Blackfish will show up into the Canal end of August.  Bite usually gets really going in September middle to the end of the month.  However, a lot of those fish will all be juveniles and too short to keep.  You might get a few keepers in there every now and then.

Capt Jerry P, is the Togmaster...and he does very well when he fishes the Canal.  I watched him land fish after fish after fish for over an hour!  I was so impressed that I stopped fishing on the opposite side!

Ahh almost time for the Cluck u Blackfish Chicken Challenge at da canal TT^

I don't like to read things fully Im a little too quick at calling people out, maybe I'm just jealous haha, you saw the size of that guppy I caught in the canal!.
I think he threw it over his shoulder and held on to its tail while making the long hike back to rich's place. haha.

Lot of boats Saturday the 5th.  Got an almost keeper (blackfish) twice before the boating onslaught occured and then just picked em up against the wall.  About 15-20fish. A lot of scratchers which is odd for this location, had to wait them out but eventually got most of the fish that bit.

Fun day and a free boat show!

Oh, the usual, green crabs, size five Virginia hook snelled and 4-5ounce bank sinkers worked good.

Went out last tuesday I believe.  Stopped at rich's place.  He set me up with all the goodies.  First time trying eels so he helped me out with setting up the rigs and how to use them.  Thanks man! Your customer service tops that of the other place that I dont go to anymore! Anyway,  nothing on the eels, had a bluefish I believe that was tearing them up but I couldn't hook him.  However I caught A few Stripers and 2 Blues on the A17 green tail.  Shorts (like 18-23") but still a great time!

Heading out tomorrow sometime if the rain holds off.

Good action at the Canal!  Nice catches guys.  Too bad you couldn't hook into any big bass on the eels Greg.
