finally made it out today to get some fishing in. i have been layed up due to the fact that i broke my back, somehow i broke my l5 vertabrea in half. so doing anything has been tough, but this morning i got medded up and was determined to get me some blackfish. i headed over to -------- and got my green crabs, while i was there i met a fellow njswf  member straycat. i asked if i could join him and follow him to the canal. i was by myself, and with my back was looking for some company. he gladly accepted and i followed him over to his spot. the action was pretty good. he landed 3 or 4 before i could get a good hookset. my reaction times arent what they were at the moment but i eventually got it down and landed 10 or so. it was a great time and we both went home with a keeper. i couldnt have asked for more. thanks to this site i met another great fishing friend,we exchanged numbers and i am sure we will fish again.

It was nice to meet you surfrocket, we'll do it again sometime. As soon as you left I landed another keeper 15in so my tally was about 2 dozen togs caught with 3 of them being keepers, so it was a  great day of fishing along with meeting another fishing buddy. Guys see Rich over at Jersey Outfitters for bait and tackle.

Nice job guys!  Sounds like a great outing.

Man SR, I can only imagine how much pain you are in.  I have bad back/spine injuries, but nothing broken.  I do know, no matter what you do, it hurts.  Don't over do it either.  If you don't let it heal properly, it will give you problems for the rest of your life.  Hope you are feeling better and have a quick recovery.

Stopped at JHO. Missed Capt. Rich but got a dozen crabs and some hooks and headed off to the canal. Was with my BIL and nephew.

Got there a bit tardy for the slack tide but had good action for about a half hour. The size of the fish was nicer that usual. Mostly 12 - 13 inchers. It slowed to a pick once the current got going. Ran out of crabs after about an hour and called it a morning at about 8:30.

Great weather to be outside this morning.

Couple of pics. My BIL Dave and Nephew Eric.

Rich, I picked up the crabs Fri. afternoon and had  great action. I took my neighbor with me who just goes freshwater fishing and this was his first time fishing the canal and he loved it. We caught about 60 fish and kept our  2 fish limit. Rich, I'll be by the shop  during the week to grab some crabs.

A little slower this morning for some reason but still pulled some nice blackfish and a porgy.

Cocktail blues were busting for very short sporadic periods.

Nice going on the 16 incher. I was there today also, fished from 10am to 1pm, caught about 35 fish. Only 1 was 14 inches, I let him go looking for a bigger one but it never happen. The action got really slow for me around noon time.
