I pulled 3 nice 25 inch bass at the end of the incoming tide west side of the canal the other night. Needle nose with a black feather teaser slow retrieve with slight jerks.
Can you say black fish……a lot of doubles and about every 15 fish one keeper on clam? What the hell- I think these dame fish stop growing at 13 inches
My buddy pulled a nice 21 inch weak using a black fish rig and a gulp crab at the north side mouth on the outgoing while I was foul hooking small frenzy of small blues just for fun

Good Info! Thanks for that.  t^  <'((((><

Picked up a dozen green crabs from your store myself this afternoon! Just realized you were on here!
Thanks Dad for taking me fishing as a kid!

I might stop in for some crabs Monday AM to hit up the canal for a bit.  What time do you open over there?

They are still chewing. Lots of shorts and one keeper if you flattened em real good, decided to toss him and earn some good " karma " and avoid any enthusiastic COs   Went yesterday after church with my boy, 4.  He cranked up one on his own and needed help with another then had more fun playing in the dirt and building stuff, skipping rocks, etc

Clam seemed to be the ticket including the keeper.  Glad I decided to get a half dozen clams.  They would mostly only peck at the crabs.  Got a couple on greenies though.  One regular scored a nice 15incher and I think a few others got a keeper here and there.  Lots of really small fish though 9-12inches.

Peace

Jay

Decided to get in on some of the Tog action out there in the canal today.  I stopped in and met Capt. Rich today and grabbed some crabs and knowledge.  (Great place ya got there Rich! slt)
Hit the canal by 9:30 where I met up with 2 buddies.  Fishing was slow to start, with a few hits here and there but once it picked up we managed 11 shorties by the time we left.  I wound up getting 5....Not bad I guess for my first blackfishing excursion out there.  We wound up losing a few that darted back down in to the structure below tangling us all up.  A group was leaving the beach and gave us some sandworms and clams which seemed to be a preferred bait as well.  Hope to get in another day out there before the bite shuts down.

Sounds like a good time.
I've still yet to get over there and try togging.  Maybe this week.

Jason, you were hitting on the incoming way before HT? Pretty good. I've never been able to do much there except at the recommended times (1hr or so fore and aft of HT). My son and I were there a couple of weeks ago on a Thursday, and at the peak time. We have an Aquaview camera which revealed dozens of tog right at the bulkhead. The bite was slow at first but then became a frenzy with 12/13 inch tog. One keeper at 14 1/2. Lots of pin seabass also and a hoard of oystercrackers. The bite died with the ripping tide and when we lowered the camera to see how many were left on the bulkhead, dozens, no different that two hours before, they just had lockjaw. Moved down the canal a bit and saw the same. We were across from the Marine Police. Don't know how much that has to do with it, but maybe the current isn't as swift up near the river which might make them bite a bit more. Any ideas on that anybody?

I'm going to give the canal another tog  tussle on either Thursday or Saturday. Sat. has maybe better weather, but HT in the dark after they hit the sack. Thursday will have some daylight with the rising tide, but more rain. The northern mouth of the canal can't be that far off of the three tide points nearby, the GC Station, Rivera Beach, and the RT 35 Bridge. So hopefully, they'll decide to cooperate. Now I gotta decide which day.
