Spent a long weekend with the Mrs. down in Point Pleasant Beach.

Hooked up with Kenny on Friday for another Fish Monger Trip. Beauty of a day and 25 nice fat fluke keeps for the crew.

Sea food festival on Sat. Good eats.

On Sunday after finding no crabs available, I settled for some salted clams and fished the canal for about an hour and a half.
Boat traffic was brutal and the current was ripping.
Managed 6 short Black Sea Bass, 6 ugly Oyster Crackers and finally one nice Tog that went 14 1/2" Nice to get the first one for the fall.Felt good.

Owner at motel told me that they are getting Stripers there at night.

 t^ Good to hear
I was thinking the last couple days it's time to start trying the canal for tog.

And there are no bass in or near the canal.  Township ordinance or something.  ;)

I am thinking that from past experiences, that during the week, without all that boat traffic, and some crabs and clams, the Tog fishing should be good for some fun and maybe a keeper.
The only day I could go was on Sunday and the traffic was unbelievable.
Sure it killed the bite. Good luck if you go.

I togged there last Friday and only managed 4 on crabs. It's a funny place. Sometimes it's a mad dog bite during full tide and heavy boat traffic, sometimes they are more spooky. Sometimes they are right on the wall sometimes laying in the middle. Sometimes legs on sometimes legs off.

That's what makes this fish so much fun.

They are "Diabolical" as Kenny would say.

Good luck this season t^

I have always said that tog fishing is my favorite (besides fishing the canyons on million dollar sport fishers)

So, silly question.... Can the PPC be fished from boat during slower running currents?

Fred, fishing the "Kristy Marie" from Manasquan River Club. Channels 16/67/68.

You can anchor at the ends outside of the channel, but even a slow current will have you moving pretty good. And slack doesn't last long.

just a word to the wise....if you plan on anchoring up at the mouth of the canal while guys are fishing the wall be prepared to take a few bucktails to the bow!

as boats go, in the canal, it's just a non-stop "road" to get to where you're going. in other words..."No Stopping and/or braking".

Going down to Pt. Pleasant for a few days of R&R with the wife this Wed. through Sunday.
Going to dunk some crabs for  C&R tog fishing and see what else is around if i can snag some live bait.

Will report next week.
