Going against the rules at times has it's advantages. You can NEVER catch a fish if you are not out there fishing. My thoughts are; Go when you have a chance, no matter if it is supposed to be good time wise or not.  chrz

I agree. It was a good time with the wife and her grandfather, who by the way thought I was trying to kill him because of the steep slope he had to walk down. Haha

Went back to the canal tonight around 11:30 with 2 friends. Just another 3 hours without catching anything. The current wasn't bad at all, however the water was a bit cloudy. probably a good 6 inches of visibility. Hopefully next time!

had afew triggers following my baits on the SGR, and heard of one in the Glimmer Glass.  I have been around the manasquan side of the wall alot lately... it seems the fluke catches are declining and the night hickory shad is less dynamic, but every night i have tried i have got afew fish on double-teaser rigs.

Yeah, the bait seems to be very limited through there now.  Thanks for the info and rpeorts.  Need a few cool nights all in a row and I think we will start seeing fish run through the area more often and more frequently!  Hopefully, the Tropical Weather won't interfere too much??

Fished the north end of the canal today from 1400 to 1530 with no success. Timing was great, lots of slow water to fish. No cabbage but boat traffic was as bad as i've ever seen there. 5hrug I dealt with the 20-30' boats cruising through but when i saw a tug, lobster, sail and pleasure yacht all over 50' come thru in about a 5 minute span, I decided to call it quits. Not one bump.

Big swells might push some bigger fish through the inlet.

Out at the canal earlier today around 230. Conditions were nice, tide going out, very little boat traffic, only thing that wasn't so good was the wind.  Took me a good hour before I got my first hit. Had him on for maybe 20 seconds and next thing I know my pole cracked and I lost him. >:(  The water was starting to rip through there after that so I decided it was time to quick.  Gonna set up my other pole and head back tomorrow morning. t^

Yea it was a downer.  I want to say it was a decent size fish but I dont know. Not to knowledgeable in how big the fish are that run through there. I do know however that It was bigger than the 3# blue I caught in there a few days ago. haha. It caught me off gaurd and I though I was going to end up in the water cause Im the idiot that Has to stand on the other side of the fence just to get a whole 2 inches closer. hhppy    I'll probably be at the end of river ave tomorrow.
