I was out there for about an hour today around 1 or 2.  Tried a few hundred feet either side of Pinebluff.  Couple other people out as well, didn't see them take anything either.

Hit the inlet before that, around noon.  Got the skunk there too.  Saw three guys bring in short fluke, maybe 12in.  Saw A LOT of bait moving inland.
There was a guy diving the inlet from the restrooms out to the rocks, he came up and said there was nothing down there.

Hit the canal today around 4pm at Pinebluff Ave...not even fishable.  Grass by the bushel basket and a ripping outgoing tide!  Hit the canal as well, nothing, nothing and more nothing.  Didn't see anything caught, although one gentleman lost a keeper at the rocks before he could net it!

Hey Capt, I think I saw you out there.  Were you on the west side just opposite Pinebluff Ave??  If it wasn't you, someone was hitting the Tog there too...I counted at least 20 or so thrown back!  Nice catch, either way!

Hit the Canal about 1830 hours on the incoming.  Very little current, no weeds, no boats and a few people out fishing.  Fished Pinebluff Ave, north of the Rte 88 Bridge on the east side of the canal.  Started with the Rapala and worked it along the wall...nothing!  Saw some action south of me on the top of the water, so I threw a popper on...still nothing.  Saw a few pods of bunker and mullet go through.  Smaller pods were going towards the Inlet against the current.  Threw the Rapala under them without any luck.  Stayed about an hour until dark.

Got talking to a younger guy who works on the Dauntless.  Had a good chat with him about just about everything fishing related.  He definitely knew his stuff and seemed to have learned a lot working on the boat.

wish i knew that was you wouldnt stopped by and say hi.

Will be down there often between charters and doing maintenance.

Close to my boat so excuse to get away for a few hours.

Did see some big blues and 1 striper

that chased our small blackfish to the wall

First time i ever had that happen in all the years fishing in the canal

COOL!!  I stopped down there as an after thought.  I was surf fishing most of the afternoon.  Only my second time down at the Canal.  How do you get to the West side where you were??  That way next time I can stop over and say hi.

I saw you killing those Tog every other minute.  I had a feeling it might be you.  I figured whomever it was, definitely knew what they were doing...especially since no one else was catching a thing.  I think I needed to be there about 30 mins earlier.  Wish a couple blues or bass would have followed my lure ;D!

Tried at end of out going and beg of incoming

No good dirty water, went and did some fishmonger boat work

Came back at end of incoming

clean water

Drop and reel for 2 hours with toy togs to 17 in

caught around 40 with 3 or being keeper size all released

went through 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket of greenies.

seen no bass or blues caught

Capt Joe...it was hilarious yesterday.  I didn't know it was Capt Jerry over there, however the way he was hooking up with fish, I thought it might be, if it wasn't him I knew the person was definitely experienced.  Guys I walked past and a couple on lookers couldn't believe how many fish he was hooking up with.  Cast, 30 seconds to a minute and set the hook, reel in, release the fish, rebait and do it all over again! Some other guys were getting frustrated they weren't getting anything and were fishing bait too.  Of course, they didn't know what he was fishing with and they certainly were not using crabs.  He was quite the talk at the Canal last night slt!  I always like to give credit where credit is due and Capt Jerry is the Tog Master there at the Canal(I'm sure on his boat too!).  Very impressive...

I would love to pick his brains and get half the knowledge he had. Perhaps one day.  TT^

He had probably forgotten more than most know about catching fish.  To Captain Jerry.  chrz slt
