I only started fishng there last year, so I'm far from an expert  but according to my log it was over around the end of Oct last year.

Hopefully we'll get better info from the regulars..

Sorry Rod,
I cant help with the blackfish question... But I have fished the canal for years... before I started kayaking.. I always did my best fishing in late November and December... The canal is one place which is overlooked by many

The canal has always been a place.. that most will fish a couple times... not produce...then never return.. For those who fished this fast moving body of water know what a great place it is...

Usually slows up by the time the bag goes up :'(

Usually last until nov then becomes picky fish are still able to be caught, but it starts to depend on tide and water temps more..

The drop and reel all day action usaully slows up to where there bite for an hour or so on the tides...

Usually is the same type thing every year, fish can be caught there until dec when the water start to get to cold

To make a long story short.. He got mad at us / Admin / Mods and will not return.  We edited a word/term that we found ( Not appropriate for some of our members or sponsors to read) ( for lack of a better explanation) and he got pretty upset.. I tried talking to him.. with no luck.

Well that is a shame that he has left nosmly!  He certainly has a lot of expertise and experience fishing the Inlet and Canal, which is not an easy place to fish.  Only time will tell...time usually repairs a lot of things.  Unfortunately, with no disrespect to Garry or anyone else, I have learned that NO MATTER who, what, where or when you can be replaced.  It might not be easy, but you get replaced and things move on.

Hey Garry if you read this, hope you might reconsider as I know many of us enjoy reading your reports and appreciate the help you giive us grtn!  If not, I would understand and respect your decision(as I have no other choice :P)!

Off my tiny little step.

Its called life Brian.

I know I have not been able to get out that much lately so my posts have been down but this site is rich in a lot of other ways and in my opinion the variety of topics and characters makes it more interesting.

You have to remember that the change in seasons always bring about a lull as both fish and fishermen have to change their tactics to survive both to live and to catch.  Slow times are normal.

Basically I started reading this post to listen to reports and to report as well.. But since Ive been on 90% of the Canal reports were from Garry..It is possible but I highly doubt that anyone can give a better series of informative reports..I believe things happen for a reason though .From the way I see it, it seems as if alot of ppl want to fish but never actually get out.  5hrug

This weekend was the best time to hit the canal.... We had a strong North East wind which made fishing the surf impossible... The canal had a flood tide which caused heavy flooding to the back bay and marsh areas....
it even caused streets to become flooded on 35 south last night.

The bait fish had a very difficult time swimming in the hard current.. and the bass were all over them...

With all that water being inside the bay... it only has one way to go... back out.... so for the next couple days.... Fishing the north end would be the best... being all that bait will be sucked out with the heavy flow of water.

Look at it this way... The surf will take a couple days to clean up... so if your looking to fish... Why not give it a shot...
