Edit. Hotrod 7/16/08
It was brought to my attention that we have announce the wrong winner of the Calcutta.
As stated on page 8 of the official tournament Page. It states that "The Calcutta is for the largest fluke, not total weight of four".
http://njsaltwaterfisherman.com/forums/index.php?topic=6035.140I am very sorry that I made this mistake on announcing the wrong winner of the Calcutta.
Team Baccala is actually the Winner of the Calcutta.
Congraz to them and Again My apologizes to all.

The New Jersey Saltwater Fisherman's 1st annual "Fluke-a-thon" tournament went off as scheduled this past Saturday, July 12th. Thirteen member teams, from Atlantic Highlands to Little Egg Harbor, were out on the water to take part in a little friendly competition.
The real story of the tournament was the wind. Some had too much of it and some had none at all. It seemed that those fishing in the northern section of the state enjoyed some decent drifting conditions in the morning. However, later in the day a southerly wind started blowing so hard it made conditions virtually unfishable! It also made for a few bumpy rides back to the docks. Anglers down south faced the opposite problem. No wind and no drift at all. And when it comes to fluke fishing, whether its too fast, too slow or just right, the drift counts for a lot.
Several teams were able to rise above the less than ideal conditions to weigh in some very pretty impressive catches. The winners had a four fish limit which weighed 18.63 lbs. and a very respectable average of over 4 1/2 lbs. each.
Whether they finished first, last, or in the middle, one look at the pictures proves that a great time was had by all participants!
A big thank you goes out to Hotrod and the administrators and moderators of NJSWF for helping to put this tournament together! More thanks go out to the guys at the B&Ts for giving us a place to weigh in and to Dick's Sporting Goods for their generous donations and ongoing support of NJSWF!
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to all those who participated in our first tournament! A big thumbs up goes out to you all!
