Mucho' Muy Bonita Fish Monger Crush Bonito
« on: August 27, 2008, 09:05:37 PM »
Had Open Boat Bonito trip today. Greeted to a little more chop than noaa forecasted, but day got nicer as it went on.

Headed South to the grounds and started trolling, DOUBLE AND TRIPLES RIGHT AWAY OF THE TASTY CRITTERS. Constant action had the charter jumping on rods all day. Fish ranged 2-7lbs and the water was crystal clear

Steady hookups all day on the troll, but couldnt get them to bite bait.
Also had 6 big blues and a few google big eye chub mackerals.

Loaded up the Bonito today guys on our first trip.

Give a call if ya wanna get in on this great light tackle action.

Nice meeting all you guys today, Bob Johnathon Brian and friends.

Broken Bobber also made his appearance helping the Monger cause.
Thanks for coffee and spikes soup

Good lesson Capt!!  False albacore and Bonito can be mistaken for each other a lot.  If you google them, some regions in the US refer to them as the same fish!

I looked them up at the begining of the summer after someone landed a false albacore at the Inlet and insisted it was also Bonito.  I was confused and never got a straight answer from searching the internet.

Thanks for clarifying this.  You made it very, very simple to remember which is which!!

Anyone know why they refer to them as the same fish in other regions??  It is clearly 2 different fish here!!

Thanks

 TT^
