Striper fishing 11/4
« on: November 04, 2008, 05:20:17 PM »
left out of Sayreville at around 7 this morning with friend Ken on his boat "The Breeze",also along for the trip was a friend of Ken's from work,Carmen and his young son Carmen.Ken had a full fresh Bushel of clams and his original plan for the day was to go to the Shrewsbury rocks but changed his mind and decided to head to off far Rockaway, which he did,got out in the area and found lots of birds working,we casted and drifted gulp live eels (which I had brought along)Carmen caught the first Striper using my light pole,it was a short at 24 inches but it was the first one he ever caught and he really enjoyed the action on the light pole, then his son Carmen caught one that was also a short, love to watch the young kid catching fish like this for the first time.we had a few run offs that were missed, then the birds moved out, rather than chasing,Ken wanted to anchor and chum up our own with the clams.gave this a shot for a while and no success.so we pulled up and Ken made a move south to the Shrewsbury Rocks where we anchored and set up chumming clams for the bass and the next thing young Carmen pulls in a porgy and another comes in and before you know it catching Blackfish,so we concentrated on bottom fishing, caught a lot of porgies that were released because nobody wanted them, caught some really nice Blackfish, the biggest a 21 1/2 incher that I caught that weighed 6 lbs and Ken got one at 19 inches, got our limit of one per person and it was continous catch and release, never did get any bass here but non stop action with the Blackfish,Ken marked the spot, will make a return trip here when the full season opens.pulled up around 1:30 and headed in.really a nice day on the water and a great time had by Carmen and his son.   Kez[/img][/img][/img]
