The fisherman Mathematician
« on: November 12, 2008, 10:59:27 PM »
stopped this morning to get a 1/2 bushel of clams at a bait shop,I'm not going to mention which one.asked what the price was and the response was $24,on the board a full bushel was $33,I said we paid $16 last week for a 1/2 bushel, the response, the price has gone up,I didn't want to get them for the $24 price but my fishing partner wanted them and it would be out of the way to run to another bait shop.so we purchased them, now I'm looking at the board and asked how many clams in a 1/2 bushel the response was 36 clams.looking at the board again, clams $7 a dozen,3 dozen=36,3x7=$21.so I tell him I changed my mine,I only want 3 dozen instead of a 1/2 bushel,I get the difference back so I get my 3 dozen clams for $21. ;D  Kez

Not too many people pick up on that!!  They probably do that on purpose and make an extra $3 off of a lot of people.  Either that or someone just couldn't add and do the math in the shop.

If I was you, I would tell the people on this board what shop it was so they know not to make the same (almost) mistake.  I would also challenge he shop with his prices.
