Capt Jeff (NJSWF Member pilot2550) of Z'Obsession landed this 10.5# beauty on a tandem bucktail on his first drop early saturday morning 8/13. He and his brother Jay have been using an assortment of live bait as window dressing on home made bucktails to produce the larger fish. "As you would expect, the doormats are laid up in the structure, so you have to be willing to forfeit some gear to be rewarded. Although, all of the typical locations like Ambrose and Sandy Hook channels are delivering quality fish." said Capt Jeff.   See More Images and Report Here.

Dan McGraw & Mike Garron | Barnegat Door Mate

On Sunday, Dan McGraw and Mike Garron left Long key marina in Waretown as the sun was rising as usual on their 25' Steiger in search of  some great fishing.
They broke Barnegat inlet and headed North to fish with the rest of the party boats and pack around the tires. After catching 12 short fish they decided to move away. Headed South past Harvey Cedars they found some nice structure in 50' of water. It was getting late in the day and the drift was just starting to pick up. They derided to change out their baits and loaded up a spro bucktail with a green teaser trailing along. After 3 or four skates they decided on one more drift... then Bang.  Reeling the fish up and having some fun thinking it was another skate, the fish surfaced and the game faces were on. They netted the fluke and immediately wanted to get it on the scale.
The Fluke measured and even 31 inches and weighed in at 11lbs. The arsenal that was hit was Berkley 3" green gulp and spearing.

Paul Auguscinski, of SAS Guide Service and Team Reel Tight, partnered up with Tom Bunting, his son Jim Bunting, and Capt Jeff of Z'Obsession to land his personal best and a lifetime fluke of 13lb. The beast was caught bucktailing the Sandy Hook Channel on Sunday, June 19th during the early stages of incoming tide with a light easterly wind. The Capt and crew finished the day with 8 other quality keepers in 3-4 lb range and a Fathers day for the memory book.
