Gulden Day on the Irish Ayes

Bob G's brother Jack is visiting from out of state and we were able to coax him into a short striper trip this afternoon.

We left the dock after 3pm to try some catch and release on stripers. When we broke the Shark River inlet we immediately found some bunker showing on the depth finder. Snagged a few and tried for bass with no takers. The water was a little sporty at the time.

Moved north and made it to the Deal area. Found more bunker and loaded the livewell with them. At about 515pm we were invaded by bass. Jack caught his first on a livelined bunker. We than had three on at a time. Two on livelined bunker and Bob G hooked up with a bass on a snagged bunker. We landed two out of the three (third one broke the leader on Bob's liveliner.

Took pics and release the three that we boated. Had a few more run offs without hook ups.

Back to the dock before 7. Boat cleaned and back home by 815.

Nice day Joe,  I have not done much livelining, Do you get frequent runoffs without setting the hook? And was that a bluefish that broke the leader?   thanks,   Eddie

Eddie, it was a bass that broke the leader. It was on Bob's rig and I don't know what test leader he had on. Looked like it was a bit on the light side.

KP, I usually monitor channels 10 and 16. Too many mouths on 65 and 68 with no regard for anyone else. My cell # is also in the contact list here. Copy it down and give a call if you see me out.  t^
