Title: Raritan Bay 10/4 bluefishing
Post by: Capt. Carl on October 04, 2009, 07:49:58 PM
Headed out in a pea soup fog this morning and headed over to romer where there has been life consistantly....yup...lots of life....all the sea robins you wanted and 3 fluke that went back in the drink.....once the fog cleared at 10:30 i ran down the beach in search of birds.....only to find the water flat calm without a splash.....depth sounder has a clean screen....no marks....headed to the knoll and back on anchor....no touches and then the fog comes back for round 2....with all the traffic trying to race the fog back in i decide its not a good spot to be  so we pull the hook and head towards  spyhouse....on the way, we spot the birds working and finally put the guys on some fat bluefish to 12lbs all on the jig.
PLEASE NOTE*
Due to my research today, the lack of bluefish around today means it is overfished....therefore, I AM CLOSING the bluefish season as of this wednesday to all recreational angling and commercial fishing. However, you may still bluefish using a crab trap but NOT in federal waters. Bluefishing in Federal Waters is reserved for cast netting only!
Thank You,
N.M.F.S.

Now that is some funny stuff rofla  Carl... tried hailing you this am.  It was a different world on the other side of the ammo pier.  Early fog that lifted turned into a beautiful day on the part of the water.  Found the soup on the way back. 5hrug

it was thick out there....

good call on the "not a good place to be anchored" I saw a guy crossing my bow going way too fast bout 100yds away, then he was gone, then not; good thing I was going slow... @ anchor you're asking for it.

whs I got caught in pea soup fog just outside Manasqan Inlet one time. you don't want to be anchored. Too many nuts out there. nts As it was we were on the bell for at least 3 hours.
