That turtle looks like he got ran over or a tree fell on him.

I went fishing yesterday for some pickerel to pass the time. I felt my line pull and then nothing.  I pulled up on the line and a turtle's head popped up, opened it's mouth and let go my fly.  I just stood there for a minute with my mouth open. It made me think of this thread so I thought that I'd share.

I'm no expert but it looked like a snapper.  The head was the size of a golf ball and it had that pointy beak that they got.  That was actually the second time that happened to me at that lake.

Dude, you do find some monsters.  Couple of questions.  How do you kill'em and do you ever smile?

I found this on a fly tying site and it's amazing. It's a fly a guy tied to imitate a turtle.

I take a pair of channel locks and let them bite it and then pull the head out and slice it off at the joint in the neck .I am not one to ever smile, you are the thrid person to ask me that this week

I was at D.O.D lake monday and I counted fifteen turtles in the water around my boat.  They are like roaches.

I was fly fishing with a nymph and I saw my indicator sink so I grab the rod and set the hook.  I knew it waaayyy to big to be a trout.  It started swimming toward my boat, went under it, out the other side and then spun my boat around.  My five weight looked like it was ready to snap so I wrapped my fly line around my hand and pulled it to the top and saw this monster and then he went under the boat again.  I pulled him back up and the nymph (#16 hook) was snagged under his leg.  I managed to get the hook out without losing a finger.
