Irish Ayes' two day, not much to report report
« on: October 05, 2008, 09:38:38 PM »
Had a full crew Saturday, 10/4. Broke the inlet after fuelling up. Fuel $4.00 a gallon.  :P

Was met by a ton of birds working on the border of Avon and Bradley Beach, about a half mile off shore. Had groups birds all the way to Asbury Park. Tossed Ava 47s to see what was up. After a few tries hook up with a blue. The snapper variety. ;D Switched over to Ava 007s and hooked up with just about every cast. Had a dozen blues following the hooked blues to the boat.  Kept a dozen and a half, as Andy wanted them for the dinner table. Released many more.

Went north and drifted the Red Church area. Tons of short seabass.

Left the Red Church area and headed to the Shrewsbury Rocks. Trolled up a bluefish about 10-12 pounds. No other knockdowns.

Drifted the rocks and Sandy Hook Reef area. More short seabass along with two keepers.

Today, 10/5, me and Matt took a ride out. Stopped at the fuel dock again on the way out. Price dropped over night to $3.61.

Wanted to hit the mud hole but changed our minds when we got into the ocean. Went north to the Red Church.

Drifted the area and picked up seabass and porgies. Still tons of short seabass, did have three keepers and two keeper porgies, one was a 14 incher.

Matt boated a fluke with no tail. Been in a fight with someone and took a beating. Don't know the outcome of the opponent.  ;D Took a pic but left the camera on the boat.  ::)

Went on the troll heading back to the inlet. No knockdowns.

Two great weather days on the water. Catching was good but the keeping was not.

Good job Capt. Joe,

The smaller AVA's have been working even in the suds.  The 007's in white green and red especially have been producing down this way.

This weekend was a non fishing one for me, BTW I was out your way on Sat to the Cranberry Feast in Bordentown; what a show of old cars nice.

Actually Warren, their prices were extremely fair all summer. Must have gotten a new batch of fuel in overnight. Happened a few weeks ago also.

I just don't know what brought it up to $4 to begin with. It was down pretty good for a while then shot right up.

I wish the down ward prices would reflect the upward spiral.  Right now the barrel of oil is a little less than $90 so where are the well below $3.00 a gal prices?

nice decision, good thing you didn't go offshore wind came up out of nowhere on Sunday afternoon. certainly would have made for a bumpy ride back.

Finally I have caught up with you guys on the fuel prices....diesel finally fell below gas for the first time this year @3.40 pg. I think I am going to start to put kitchen grease in my tank.
