NJ Fishing & Boating Weather Outlook: New Year's Week Edition
« on: December 30, 2012, 04:20:22 PM »
Here is your New Year's Week Forecast.  The week will start off with some lower chances of rain or snow showers followed by dry weather for Wednesday through Friday.  Beginning of the week temperatures will be highs of 40's and lows of 30's however, after the cold front passes through on Tuesday, highs will only be in the 30's with lows into the 20's and teens overnight.  Water conditions will vary throughout the week by location.  Inshore to midshore will see a mix of cautious and good rated conditions with the possibility of Small Craft Advisories mainly on Tuesday and Wednesday with the passing cold front.  Midshore to offshore will see more cautious conditions with Small Craft Advisories throughout the week.  Winds will gust as high as 25 knots with seas averaging 2-3 feet at 5 seconds and as high as 4 feet at 3 seconds.  Surf conditions will be average with 1-2 and 2-3 feet waves.  Tuesday and Wednesday could see some rougher conditions with some higher wave heights with gustier winds.

High pressure will continue to build into the area for Monday before passing off the southeast coast.  A cold front will move in from the Northwest on Tuesday.  Cold, high pressure will then move and build in for the middle through the end of the week.

I would like to wish everyone and their families' a very happy, safe and healthy New Year.  Bring on 2013!!
