6/25.....shoulda stayed in bed....
« on: June 25, 2011, 07:59:26 PM »
But we had a charter lined up.....knew it was gonna be a bad day when i had trouble getting my electronics to work.....fixedthat problem but that was a minor issue comparedto the one in store for me.....ust about at the fishermans bouy for a shot at ling and sea bass....running at normal cruise when it just seemed that i didnt have enough speed for the rpms i was cranking....then i heard a whine from one of the engines.....shut it down...popped the bilge hatch to find gear oil in the bilge....opened the engine cover and could smell the burned oil instantly...a checkof the trans dipstickconfirmed it as we were low on the gear oil on stbd gear....turned it around and came in on one engine. Overfilled the gear for the ride so i didnt damage any hard parts by running in on low gear oil...back at dock we tied off ,and engaged the gear again....and i still have forward, neutral and reverse....hopefully its just the clutches that burned up. Will know next week sometime.
