Its been really bad for me! nosmly How about you guys?
From some guys I talk to the best fishing was 2-3 weeks before the season even started thud

i haven't even started yet.. I think its way to early to tell how the season is going..

I will report Back after my trip on the Broken ones TNT ;)

Definetely worse than expected. Usually have a back bay bite going on somewhat, but it's basically non-existant. Overall decent amount of shorts but keepers few and far between in Raritan bay area. Figure all those "just short" fish should be around making their way to the coolers this year but no dice.
Still early so there's time to have it turn around, but I'm a pessimist. Next you'll be seeing reports of just big fish with not many regular keepers in the catch...that's the real beginning of the end. thud
Hopefully I am wrong though 5hrug

Consistant southerly winds are the kiss of death. Everytime it has started to go westerly..... it doesn't last long. Everytime the water temp hits the low to mid 60's the southerly drives it back down. Not advantageous for fluke fishing.
It will turn around. Still very early in the season. My heart is broken with the closure of the blackfishing season :'(

I had one great day in the river, otherwise slow

I was out today on the Jackpot out of Seawaren....basically, the bite sucked inside of the bay.....I had quite a few shorts and only 2 keepers for the 5 of us who made the trip......bunker ripping in the bay with the bait boats circling the pods to net them........I wonder if that activity has anything to do with the bite in the bay?
-
slow for me, my ratio is more than 50 to 1 for keepers.
-
My experience has been that the water temp has to be between 65 and 70 to really start getting the big fluke. We have some time.Usually July 4th weekend

Thing is a lot of times some of the biggest fluke can be caught in the bays and inshore during earliest part of the season. So it was a surprised for me to see how bad it is when we already into June. nosmly
