gearshaft 1990 150hp yamaha

my gearshift corroded and broke, is there anyway I can fix it or does it have to go to the shop "money is tight"

 It sounds like it could be a big project power head removal etc.  If that product works as they say it does it would save time and money.

If you try it post your results. From what I have read it could cost over 1,000 to do it the conventional way.
