Raritan Bay Report 6/27
« on: June 27, 2010, 06:25:36 PM »
Had the Whitney charter out today leaving dock at 6 a.m. with a bushel and some fresh dead bunker in hopes the striper fishing from last night continued...searching the bay for some pods to get some live ones in the well....nothing to be found...out on the Knoll we found them, with mighty big swirls behind them...went on the drift with some chunks and heads....2 run offs that just wouldnt come tight...lasted all of about 15 minutes then no signs of life. Hit my spot to anchor up before the fleet arrived. Started chunking the fresh deads with heads and some clams on the hook. First run off came unbuttoned 3 minutes in and it looked promising....then current died and had big dogs and massive bluefish thru the change(all on the heads).
On the outgoing we switched for fluke for some great action but all the wrong size. couple of moves later we end up at the T.C. and boxed up 5 nice fish to 3.5 lbs.
