quick trip for Irish Ayes
« on: August 21, 2008, 10:00:26 PM »
Got somewhat bored sitting around and asked two friends if they wanted to go fishing. They both jumped at the offer and off we went.

I met them at the dock at 1pm and found the water was loaded with spearing. Threw my net a few times and got enough spearing for a several trips.

Talked to Tuna Tales Joe T at the dock and he was heading out for a quick trip also. He recommended the Sea Girt Reef.

We loaded the boat, shoved off and made a quick stop at the fuel dock. $3.83 for gasoline and $3.94 for deisel.

Off to the reef.

Made a few drifts and brought up some shorts. Made several moves on the reef and found two keepers on the north-west corner. First keeper was a shade over 25 inches and the other taped out to 22 inches.

Called it quits and made the run back to the dock.

Will be out again tomorrow, probably heading north.  t^

Capt Jerry. The spearing were much larger than the ones the bait shops were selling all year.  TT^
They were in pretty thick about 1-2pm today. First time I have seen them this year. I hope they stay around for a while. Gotta get bait for the rest of the season and beginning of next year.  t^

Joe

Same here...only two keepers.  21" and 18".  5 throwbacks.  The SE wind maybe had something to do with it.

Good luck tomorrow...John on my dock did well today to the North near the "Rocks"...
