First Ever Striper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went by the kayak launch at my spot and started casting 1/8 oz spoons. For the first hour, nada. Took a 5 minute break and then went back at it. Caught a snapper, that lifted up my moral and I kept casting. I thought I got snagged but the line was moving around, it wasn't like any bluefish I ever caught before so I started reeling and I got him to shore. Wasn't too big but it was big enough for me. Caught a few more snappers and called it quits at 5:42. I still can't believe I got one.

You know, I still remember my first striper.
Does everyone? It wasn't a keeper but the feeling I had was one of accomplishment. How many cast's had I done before getting that one?
A thousand? maybe. The fish was beautiful, I carefully released him in the surf. It must have been over 30 years ago. I wish I knew whatever happened to that fish. Maybe because he was released there's a thousand more stripers in the ocean now.
