Title: Snow/Wintry Mix/Ice Sunday Night-Monday
Post by: Pfishingruven on February 01, 2015, 03:08:33 PM
The low pressure system coming out of the Ohio Valley Sunday Night and into Monday continues to trend north. What started well south of NJ is now traversing across the middle of the state and models suggest it could go even farther north. This means very little to no accumulation from I-95 and south. From the Raritan, south, there could be a little more accumulation and then the greatest accumulations will be north of the Raritan as a general guide. The farther north the storm goes, the less snow will fall across the state. Most areas will see a mix of wintry precipitation and a changeover to rain and then back to snow on the back end of the storm. The bigger threat than snow, to much of the state is the freezing rain/icing threat! Anywhere from a trace to 0.25 inches is possible for ice accretion/accumulation. This snow/mix/rain/ice will make for dangerous driving conditions and slick surfaces.

Title: Re: FLASH FREEZE, FREEZING RAIN & ICING
Post by: Pfishingruven on February 02, 2015, 12:34:13 PM
Many areas that did not see any snow or saw snow/mix changing over to rain, where temperatures rose into the 50's last night, are now seeing a rapid drop in temperature as the cold front passes through the area. This rapid drop in temperatures is dropping below freezing and causing a flash freeze as well as freezing rain! This is causing icing conditions on surfaces and roadways. This will make for hazardous conditions until surfaces can be treated!

Be safe!!
