Capt. Bob Dunk took a good long look at the Grady and it came up successful. He said it was the driest Grady he ever saw. It ran strong and toped out at about 45 without being trimmed properly. Very low engine hours, guestimate around 300. Everything works, every light, gage, well, pump and even radio.
Capt. Bob is top notch.
FYI.. Bob knows our own Jawz.

exactly Salty.. exhale is what I had to do. It is amazing how much time, work, and homework it is to buy the RIGHT boat. I think I found it. Next step, fishing prep.

should i ask,did you get the 3 batteries figured out... cfzd
yes.. battery 1 is for the electronic only. battery 2 should be switched to 1, which will only run 1 engine. Battery 3 should be switched to 2, which will run only the second engine. The charging system is hooked up to all 3 batteries via the shore power.
-
Good Luck with the new ride Nick. t^ <'((((><

good luck
solid boat
I love mine...
there i said it thud clp

1st battery, only on and off switch, only for electronics.
2nd and 3rd battery are for each engine. I wss told to keep one on one, the other on two, or vice verysa.. never on all.
let me see if I have the picture.
-
you didn't tell me how the third battery is being charged ??
The house battery is charged when the charger is plugged in and when the starboard engine is running. There is an isolator to split the charge from the engine to the house and starboard start battery.
-
i'm just telling you what Dunk told me..

i'm just telling you what Dunk told me..
There's a batt isolator on the starboard engine in that Grady. All three batts were red hot for the survey and we had 14.5 volts on both meters druing the run up and down the river. Those 1995 200hp Johnsons are not set up to charge two batts like the newer engines.
The way I saw the batts rigged I recommended to run the starboard engine on number 1 and the port horse batt switch on number 2.

Nick is expanding on that 300hrs. I seriuosly doubt they have 200hrs. They run like bears. Only thing off in that respect was the starboard tach reading 6700 when the port tach read 58-5900 and both engines were singing together. No way where both twisting 17" pitch props at 6700. If they were then they are extremely healthy 250's with 200hp covers and model numbers..
And yes about that Grady being the driest one I've ever seen. I do subscribe to most of Jimmy's(Jaws) thought on Gradys, but I take each boat as they come.. Nick's Grady Sailfish is the driest 15yr old Grady I've ever put a mositure meter on. I'll go even farther and say it is the driest one ever I've looked at. The boat seems barely used to me and well taken care of.
The only area I really couldn't inspect and it an area of concern is the fuel tanks. If I owned the boat and Nick and I discussed this is to pull that center deck plate and see what the tanks look like. But from what I could see I don't think it's an immediate isuse.
