Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Nathan Borror and Ryan Hountz from Atlanta, GA chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some big game deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL.   Winds were out of the west at 7 mph, seas running 2-3 ft, blue skies, and temperature in the high 80's.

Ryan and Nathan are avid fishermen with many years experience fishing all over the country; and their request for today was to catch a Wahoo.  Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft of water at the sea buoy in Ft. Lauderdale.  They were impressed by the short distance to our fishing grounds since it takes them 45 minutes to arrive to their fishing ground back home.  We started off with two #8 plainers, one with a 3 1/2 blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip.  For surface baits we had four Ballyhoos.  As we trolled the reefs we caught 9 Kingfish, one weighing in at 23 lbs, and limited out, along with two Barracudas.

From there I decided to put two kites out with two live Mullets from each kite.  As we sat there explaining the techniques to the anglers, all four lines were attacked!!!  With two anglers and four fish on, it was a Chinese fire drill with lines crossing over each other.  Mark, our mate, worked frantically to straighten out the tangles.  The anglers brought all four Bonitos in, weighing between 15-20 lbs.  Time ran out and it was time to head back.

Ryan and Nathan both enjoyed their lunch in the a/c salon for a relaxing ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
