Where do you draw the line separating North and South Jersey?
- Driscoll Bridge?
- I-195?
- Rt 70 to 72?
:headscra:
Curious what everyone considers the line.
-
Barnegat Inlet IMO.
-
New to Striper fishing but would consider giving it a go. Any chance of a weigh station a bit farther north like.........Hazlet, Leonardo, or Atlantic Highlands? I think fishing all day and then running south to Brielle to weigh fish may keep people from entering. Just my unsolicited opinion.
-
Xfire, you don't have to drive your boat down to weigh in. You can take your catch by car. We did that last year and took 5th place. No trafiic in November
-
Bucktail, For this instance, I draw the line at Manasquan Inlet.
-
So, would that put the Manasquan boats in the north or south catagory? 5hrug

Wow. That's low.
-
Irish, Manasquan definitely part of north.
Buck, Don't know what you might mean be "low". I do not want to offend anyone, so if I did, I apologize. Just trying to generate some interest in the tourney. It is for a good cause and there are not that many striper tourney's in the "north". Would be a shame if we lose this one.

When it comes to Stripers I have no idea what I'm doing but.......I'm in. Beginners luck has carried the day before. clp

;D You're not offending anyone. I meant that's low, as in low on the map - not like a low blow or anything.
To me, unless you break the state up into three sections - North, Central and South, the dividing line is much further up than Manasquan. I would say, at least 195.
Just a fun topic for discussion, that's all. I find it interesting where people draw that line.
Good luck in your tournament! t^

I like it. I will be signing up!!
-
Sounds like a good time

Surf anglers are welcome
-
The original post says that the fee is $60 per angler, no mention about it being a fee for the entire crew.
-
Surf anglers are welcome
So how will that work for us land lovers! Will the fee be the same.....and do we still go to the capt. meeting? ???
Oops, my mistake. I was thinking of another tourney where you can fish from land and sea. This tourney says boat only. In this case you can call the tourney coordinator to see if fishing from a charter boat or party boat is allowed.
-
To all: I am checking with tourney about party boat question. Will post answer ASAP.
PARTY BOAT ANGLERS ARE ELIGILBLE. You must attend the Capt's meeting on Friday however.

Is there a diner for the northerners? Or do we all meet at a bar down by the Manasquan river?
Trying to put a crew together.
-
I could do this, sounds fun. Are there general rules posted somewhere ? I'd like a few more details before putting a crew together. We'd be a northern boat :-)

OK, The wife mailed out the check for the entry Fee. The Change order will be representing the North. Quick question, what time is lines in on Saturday morning? Running down from Jersey city, and trying to decide to fish the Hook or run down south to Manasquan?
-
I believe you may fish anytime after you register at the Capt's meeting.

Finally got out to fish yesterday afternoon. This wind needs to take a vacation. We were only out for a couple of hours. Still a little sporty out there, but fishable. We caught two keeper bass. Will be out there every day this week, setting up for the tourney on Saturday. The early weather report for Saturday looks good. Will post pics each day. Sorry no pics from yesterday, had to run to get to Giants game. Should have stayed fishing.
-
Beautiful day on the water today. Fishing was good two. 5 keepers. One was caught on the surface with a swimming lure. Amazing strike. Be back at it again tomorrow.
-
Great fishing today. All big fish to 34 lbs. Great timing for the tournament this Saturday
