Raritan Bay Fluke Wed 11 limit
« on: July 11, 2012, 02:08:36 PM »
Capt Don sr & jr left Keyport at Daylight,Net ready for the peanuts,[ fluke candy ] one throw all the nuts we needed.Just the right size for flukeing.Last of the incoming tide with a slight east wind, made for a perfect drift.Water was flat and 79 degrees.we saw a large turtle surface around the boat a couple times. With Bucktail and peanut,WE started our drift,BINGO,fish on,a keeper measured 22"  t^  Did the same drift over and over and caught more keepers then shorts.Had 8 keepers before the drift went bad.About 10 o!clock North East started to pick up,tough to hold bottom with light bucktails.Managed 2 more keepers for our limit, with some more shorts mixed in.Honed the filet knife and headed for the slip at 10:30.Great Day on Raritan Bay.   PS love ::) that fluke candy.

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Nice report Capt. Question: When you fish a p-nut behind a bucktail, do you need to let the fish chew on it a while before you set the hook? D/Y give some slack? Also, do you have the same success using dead bunkers?

Thx
