Sandy Hook to close on Mondays & Tuesdays...

The way I read it Sandy Hook will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays if the cuts go into affect.  And at this point I think they will.  How many of you will be willing to travel to Island Beach State Park to do your fishing?

As I see it IBSP will remain open for business as usual.  The only problem I can see is that there will be many more days that the park will be closed due to the two parking lots being filled to capacity for the bathing beaches.

As I have a beach buggie pass I can still get on till the quota fills on that which I believe is 500 vehicles. 

Second question I guess would be how many of you will now go and get the beach buggie pass with hopes of getting on the beach?

Thanks for responding and if you are lurking please sign up and respond to these queries as this summer is shaping up to be a very unusual one.  If the fishing takes off as I think it will this year both parks will be in for an influx because people are looking for some relief from the cities. 

It will be a very interesting summer.

do u think the hook will close to swimmers only or both swimmers and fishermen   ???

Not sure but I think when they say its closed they mean for everyone.  This way they don't have to pay for anyone but the Park Police to be there.

If you read what was proposed(?) you will note that the two day closure is for the winter, not the summer months.

Sandy Hook is Federal; got busted there a few times for various and assorteds growing up....

As for the IBSP Sportfishing Permit, I have mine,and will continue to purchase one every year that I'm able to get out of the house and fish. <'((((><

November surf fishing from Sandy Hook for the fall run is (was? 5hrug) one of the best places to fish.  Closing on 11/1 would hurt.

Although, if it's only 2 days and probably the 2 slowest days so it's not that bad.
