Another one for The Salts
« on: August 10, 2012, 07:05:55 PM »
slt A very large Ship is Anchored up and Has a Jacobs Ladder ( Boarding Ladder ) hung over its side right to the waters surface. Its a calm day. The steps on the Ladder are spaced 1 foot above the other.  t^ And The Tide in this area raises 1 1/2 feet in a hour how many hours will it take to cover 8 steps.  5hrug slt

A Us Navy ship is making 12 Knots forward and a cross wind of 8 knots in what direction is the Union jack flying  5hrug

These were boot camp questions along with the old buckets of steam That had to be carried from the engine room to the Fantail. ( Stern ) to fill a 50gal drum  rofla smk

Reminds me of the times I have sent newbies to the marine store near our station to get a hundred feet of shore line. Boy, that used to Pee the store people off along with the newbie when they found out what it was.  ;D

Of course, as everyone else, we would send them out to get a gallon of prop wash too.

Ohhhh, the good old days.  hhppy

Stud stretcher, sky hook. Theres a million that work
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

also we'd have the new privates trap bradley exhaust in a plastic trash bag and take it back to the platoon sgt for an exhaust test sample,,,, half the time it would just melt the trash bag though, had to put 6 bags together to stop that.

If to tight the ship might not rise with the tide. Or they could be taking on fuel, supplies etc. All would have an effect on the boarding ladder.  :headscra:
