Title: Quick Monday report... 10/22/07
Post by: Duffman on October 22, 2007, 04:28:34 PM
Last minute deal and I had only 3.5 hours to work with.  Took off with whatever rods were on the boat and no bait. Launched KMB at 10 AM. Cruised the shoreline from Keyport to Belford, around Earle, then out past the Hook. No bird life whatsoever.
Shot down the beach off the Highlands Bridge and set out 2 trolling rods. Pulled Stretches and small spoons. Nada in almost 2 hours working toward the tip.
Last stop in Keyport Harbor and it was loaded with cocktails and nutz. Landed a half dozen before getting back on the trailer by 1:30.  Same old story but better than getting the skunk.
Water real clear out in front and surface temps 62-63 on the outgoing. It HAS to break open sometime soon!!!!

I have to agree.  That is why I'm checking at least once a day at the beach over in Ortley.  It is the easiest for me to get to.  Today the change in tide from low to high was the trick.

Caught on 1oz AVA slow retrieve and bumping along the bottom.  2-nice fluke too bad the season is over.  Au Pax in the creators of that ruling.

Happy Catching

Paul

Duffman, no better down south here at Little Egg inlet, trolled stretch 25's and caught 3 Sea Robins 5hrug, tried chunking bunker while anchored up using live spot nada, did catch a few shorts up the Mullica river but thats about it, water temp was 70.5 degrees, my buddy fished Friday further south on some wrecks and was reading 69.2 degrees, it has to get better once the water gets a little colder. TT^
