Sunday I trolled the Raritan bay with Jersey Joe and Sue. We pulled out of Keyport around 10am to very nice conditions and a water temp of 64 degrees. The tide was outgoing and we head up the triangle by the lighthouse and dropped in a black/white shad and an red eel umbrella rig. The shad produced 2 small Stripers so we switched out the eel for another shad. Made a move towards Keansberg and picked up another rat Striper. Tons of marks on the sounder but not many takers. Took a short ride to some structure and drifted eels for awhile and got a dogfish. Awhile after the tide change around 5pm I tried trolling mid bay and we landed a 31" Striper. The weather was great, best weather in a long time fishing the bay. We head home invited some friends over and had an amazing yellowfin tuna dinner from the canyon trip Fri/Sat.. The Striper fishing can only get better. Plenty of good reports from friends that are heading way east. Just watch that 3 mile line if you have Stripers in the box heading home.
