Title: Additional Salmon Stocked in Two North Jersey Lakes
Post by: Bucktail on December 06, 2013, 03:51:17 PM: I never caught a salmon before. I used to fish Wawayanda many years ago, but for bass. It's a beautiful lake. t^

Nearly 800 landlocked salmon, averaging more than 14 inches in length, were
recently stocked in two Sussex County lakes by the NJDEP Division of Fish and
Wildlife. The stocking is in addition to 1,000 salmon stocked earlier this year
and continues a program begun in 2006.

Lake was float-stocked with 550 salmon, and Lake Aeroflex was
float-stocked with 225 salmon. In late May, 2013, salmon averaging 8.5 inches in
length were stocked with Waywayanda Lake receiving 720 salmon, and Lake Aeroflex
getting 280.

In addition, another 200 salmon remain at the Hackettstown Hatchery for a future
first time stocking at Tilcon Lake (Morris County). The lake will be designated
a Holdover Trout Lake in 2014 to provide a trophy-class salmon fishery there.

Post by: Takes Prizoners on December 07, 2013, 06:29:21 PM: they're not those giants you see in upstate ny but fun to catch. those are the only 2 lakes in NJ that get stocked with landlocked salmon. I used to work right 2 miles from Aeroflex and always had my pole in the car. lol

Did you get a Government grant to do this study? It sure is taking a long time to hear your findings.
