Title: Flukies: North? South? Central?
Post by: Bucktail on August 14, 2007, 05:18:07 PM
Got a chance to sneak away and hop on a party boat tomorrow morning.

Here's the million dollar question:

From the Highlands to Cape May, where in NJ do you think has the hottest fluke bite right now?

Thanks,
Bob

It looks like the point Pleasant boats are doing quite well( NK3 Gambler and the Jamacia). I have been fishing on the Angler out of the Highlands and also have been doing quite well..

Boy, if I had my choice of places to go, I would shoot to fish the Old Grounds out of Cape May. 2 Years ago this week had best fluke trip ever.

35 Keepers, 15 over 5lbs to 8lbs. on an open boat charter.

thats a question that we can't answer.  The are taking many large fluke in the Ambrose, but others are getting skunked there also...

Hi,

Easy ... Point Pleasant/Brielle fleet ... the J2, Norma K fleet and Gambler are locked into them south of Manasquan Inlet.

Good luck,

Capt. Ed

Well...looks like everyone agrees!!  LOL ;D
I guess I'll head over to Point and try my luck on the Gambler since that's pretty close for me.  If anyone plans on going out on that boat tomorrow stop by and say hello.  I'll be the one wearing a "Seaguar" cap and holding a 12 lb fluke. ;)

Thanks for your help. t^

Post a pic of that 12 pound fluke.  And get yourself a NJSWF hat to wear.   TT^

Good luck tomorrow.

Where ever you went, hope you didn't fall under the spell of the 3 day rule.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the 3 day rule (basically an offshoot of "you should have been here yesterday") it goes as follows; A party boat (of fleet of party boats find a spot that yields a very good catch one day. They repeat the performance the second day. By this time word gets out. The third day the boats are railed, private boaters are now on the spot and the fishing is terrible.

I usually find myself in the same situation as you...where to fish. I answer the question by asking myself..would I perfer to drag bait & fish live snappers (then I'd hit a boat that fishes Raritan Bay/Ambrose) or would I like to do more bucktailing (then I'll fish out of either Belmar or Pt. Pleasant/Brielle). I rarely go further south than there
