Title: Wawayanda State Park -Wawayanda Lake
Post by: bugmannj on September 15, 2009, 01:12:01 PM
One of the few deep water lakes in NJ. The lake is stocked with a wide variety of fish: Brown trout, Rainbow trout, yellow perch, Large Mouth bass, Pickerel, Catfish, Sunfish, Crappie , and
Landlocked Salmon.

You can bring your own boat, NO GAS MOTORS ARE PERMITTED , electric trolling motors or row or paddle. sailboats and sailboards are permitted.
There is a rental facility and launch ramp available. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE IS PERMITTED.

There is a Entrance fee from Memorial day to Labor day. $ 5.00 weekdays-$ 10.00 weedends.

Great place to fish in Fall.

The ramp is good. plenty of available parking for vehicle and trailer. If boat rental is open bait is available sometimes. ( I'd bring my own. Caught a 4 lb 50z. Brown trout this past Spring drifting live minnow at about 30 feet from my canoe.

I used to love fishing that lake for bass about 20 years ago.  Haven't been around those parts in a long time.

While your up in that area try Aeroflex. 206 in Andover, right onto limecrest road and its the first left by the airport. plenty of parking, good ramp for 17' plus boats and no gas. trolling only.

I fish Waywayanda in the spring.

I personally like using Live Herring if you can find them ;)

My Friend Steve caught  a Brown Trout - 11 lbs, 0 oz.  by Steven Struniewski of Riverdale on April 13. Steven was fishing from a boat on Waywayanda Lake in Vernon, NJ when he landed the fish at 4:00 p.m. Six-pound test was used with a spinning rod and a Mitchell 300 spinning reel. A live shiner served as bait. The fish measured 29 inches in length with a 17-inch girth.

Steve won the Skillful angler award in 2008.
