Title: Irish Ayes half decent day of fluking 7-19
Post by: IrishAyes on July 19, 2008, 07:37:44 PM
Had six of us today. Left the dock at 8. Went north out of the inlet. Made a stop off of Asbury. Made two drifts across a lump that is usually productive. Nothing.

Moved north directly to Long Branch. No boats around. Picked up a couple of keepers on the first drift. Continued drifting this area for the rest of the day. Picked fluke up every drift. Ran back over our track over and over again. Finished the day in a crowd of boats. Pulled 13 keeper fluke and 9 keeper sea bass from the same area. Also had way too many shorts to count. Both fluke and sea bass.

High hook was Bob Cole with 6 keepers. Bob also had the biggest fluke for the day at 24 3/4 inches. He also had a seabass that was around 4 pounds.

Will be back at it tomorrow if the weather permits.  t^

Joe, great report, and great catch. I personally would rate it a lot higher than 'half decent'. You guys did real well considering what the winds and conditions have been lately, congrats.

Very good considering what I saw on the SH saturday and from all the other boats we passed or fished by.  Didn't see much of anything come over the rails and what did, usually went back.

Nice haul chrz slt
