Show me the ropes;
« on: June 24, 2012, 05:35:56 PM »
Looking to make some surfcaster friends.. I'm looking to really get into surfcasting just picked up a nice rod and reel as well as some lures. I have a lot of knowledge in freshwater and boat fishing but really really enjoy fishing the surf.. I pretty much have most of the gear including waders from fly fishing. Anyone out there looking to show me a few tricks of the trade hit me up.. I'm down in Ortley through out the year.. Looking to fish anywhere.  TT^

Did you "read reading the sand?" Alot of info there, also as with most surf guys fishing is sometimes planned but often sporadic.  Keep an eye out on the float plans and if you see someone going out go, early spring and late fall is usually when I surf fish because the boats out of the water and I need to keep fishing. If you want to tag along in that time your more than welcome. I fish RB down to SH

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

I'll be laied up for the next few months, but if I get back on the beack for the fall run, I'll meet up and fish with ya then.  I usually cover IBSP up to the Mansquan Inlet, both ocean and bays.

Hey Mike,

There are some good holes at Ortley, in fact all the pictures in "Reading the Sand" were shot at Ortley Beach by the 3rd Ave parking lot.  If you have any questions just fire away or send a PM.

Like Chris my home beach is IBSP but my time out there this year is a hit and miss.  We usually post when we go out and if anyone wants to go and there is room we meet up at Grumpys or Betty & Nick's.

Happy Catching

Paul
