Today we had Gil Arruda on Board with his best friend Bob and his son Bob Jr. Was a good day as far as weather and sea conditions. Set up were had had been having success the past few days. After some heavy claming Gil's pole bent and the fight was on, Gil battled a fish in heavy current right into the net. This was Gil's first ever keeper striper at 30". Needless to say Gil was beside himself with joy, as we all were. The rest of the day was the pits, Skates and more Skates. Made several calls and received several call from other Capt's, getting the same story it was bad. Unfortunately we have them days. But i am tickled pink Gil got his first keeper.
Side note, Gil is a Vietman Vet with some serious medical conditions, it was his wish to catch a keeper Striped Bass. While the day was extremely slow for us, the Lord smiled upon Gil and granted his wish. I felt previlaged to be able to assist Gil in his quest, I dearly pray that he catches many more.
