Hello all. I'm just starting to get into fishing - my five year old is obsessed, and I feel like his old man needs to at least keep up.  Truth to tell, I've started to really enjoy it myself.  We live in Mountain Lakes, so we hit the lakes there after school a few nights a week, plus weekends.  Mostly I dive, at least every other weekend, out of point pleasant, belmar, etc. (hence the avatar.)

I mostly signed up because I can't figure out what a fish it I keep catching in one of our lakes.  I'll post it in the freshwater section, and hopefully someone can solve the riddle.

Welcome! ;D  I'm sure the gang here will try to help you and your son out as much as they can.  We also look forward to your input as well.  Diving must be a great way to learn new fishing spots! t^

Thanks for the welcome!  I've really enjoyed the site so far.

I've been fishing for 30 years and have held a 6 pack license for 7.  I primarily fish for bass, light tackle, at night fishing, fishing shallow structure with crank baits and soft plastics.

Hello, good to find the site, very well done so far and have to admit, the reports section is GREAT!  Looking forward to getting great reports here.  Usually get a few trips to coast for fishing as travel and expense can be cumbersome so when I do plan a Party Boat run, always on the Cock Robin (unless fluking of course, but have caught them at nite while Bluefishing!!) and will pleasantly admit that in 32 years of riding this boat(Holiday, before she was renamed the Cock Robin) have NEVER gotten off the boat without catching something!  Not many party boats can boast a patron like that!
I remember MANY years ago(Aging Capt. Jim now too...LOL) when he did some Tuna runs to the canyon, very slow going and despite cold water, our trip slammed the blue sharks, we played catch and release all day and that trip, despite the expense, was INCREDIBLE!!!  (Smacks the mate in the head that knew how tired I was from reeling in a nice 6 foot blue and decided to smack the sharks head with the gaff sending it back to the depths with the line screaming off the reel, he simply said "Reel it in again!!")  That is all for now, sorry for being so wordy!!

Looking forward to fishing NJ and enjoying new stories and tips. As a member of a paysite in CT (CTFisherman.com) I have enjoyed it there and met great people. I fish Long Branch Beach mostly, but hopefully my Bud Chris and I will look for some more areas. We fished Point Pleasant area seawall last year and had a not so good trip on the Jamaica II. His wife was high hook with one starfish. Did see one of the biggest Black Sea Bass caught. 8# and fat. Good to meet you guys and hope to have a great and long lasting angling adventure here. Wayne Bunker
I pay for the pleasure of fishing through taxes and time. I enjoy the fresh air, the fellowship of anglers and sometimes watching others catch is more enjoyable than catching myself.

Found site when looking for info on fishing back bay around Perth Amboy. Usually fish Raritan around Keyport or Keansburg piers.
Also used weather reports and fishing reports.
Good things come to those who bait
