Just for the record...

This is one of the most asked questions On iboats. And I To asked this question once. Now I'm not saying it shouldn't be looked at but are you sure that's not your mixed oil?

All the 2 stroke oil doesn't burn off..  and will drip from your exhaust..  is it the same color of your mix oil?  I don't thing your lower unit lube is that thin..

Is it oil injected? is it set high for break in?
I know when I broke mine in that's what I had..

Hi Rod,

I agree ... lower unit oil is much thicker and usually amberish in color.

It looks like engine oil (mine is a little darker as I use Yamalube).

When I had a problem with my sender unit from the oil reserve tank under the cowling, I got all kinds of "overspill" back through the exhaust as the mix was way too rich. I hope that was not the case.

Was the engine running well before it was pulled from the water ...

We will all see shortly.

Ed

I feel bad for you. New boat, great luck on your maiden voyage , now this. At least it happened on land, not after you were underway on water, leading to severe engine damage, tow, etc.  Good Luck on the repair.  <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><
