Title: NJ Fishing - South of Ole Barney- Longport
Post by: seanr8w on May 05, 2008, 12:02:37 PM
As I promised, I wanted to report on some of the places I have been for anyone down here in South Jersey who may be reading, or for anyone up north who wants to venture to new ground. I have had a rough season so far but I have talked to the regulars at these places and all have given reports of good fishing in the past years, and all seemed to be having a slow start this year, so I am not alone!

**Longport Jetty South of Atlantic City**

I Love This Jetty!

I have been here most often on my fishing trips. There are two Jettys in Longport that people are fishing from although so far, I have only fished from the short one next to the inlet. It is only about 200' to 250' long, and easy to walk on al the way to the end. It is pretty clean and nestled into a pretty nice neighborhood. There is a small parking lot (about 8 spaces including the handicapped spot) and plenty of street parking as well. there is a small beach that I have fished from during the low tide. I have seen a few nice blues caught hear and have heard stories of some short striper picked up a few weeks back. I will keep fishing this spot in the hopes that it will pick up, since it it close to me and very easy for a last minute trip. There is a Bait and Tacklea couple of miles away in Margate. I forget the name of the place but you can pick up a little map of local businesses just about anywhere that you stop in Margate and it will list this B&T for you.

I would love to hear from anyone who has fished this Jetty to hear how your luck was!

Good post Sean.  This should help the count.  It is always good to have posts like this where visitors can log onto and find areas that they are not sure of and almost feel like home.

Again good going

Happy Catching All,

Paul
