Lost n Found Fluking
« on: July 03, 2013, 04:45:55 PM »
Down with the Family on vacation at the inlaws in Seaside Pk so decided to bring the boat down n do some Manasquan Fluking. The crew consisted of my Boys and my Father inlaw. Beautiful morning finally, splashed the boat by 6:15 and headed toward one my favorite shallow water spots. We were in em quick couple shorts by an 1/8 inch then a keep so on n so on! This is where the lost n found comes in, I hear my Son say sh@t  not usually one for cursing I turn to see an empty hand that just before was holding one of my favorite St Croix's with a Penn 955 on it!  thud not good. He begins a melt down while I scurry for the MOB button on the plotter...... Father inlaw is speechless probably fearing he was going to be called on the stand to testify at his Grand Sons murder trial. We're in about 14 ft of water with a ripping current I'm thinking this set up is gone. Rig 2 poles with snag hooks 2nd drift I come tight with my gear!!!!!!!!!! I guess it was my day. Finish up with 6 in the box 12 throwbacks and 1 rescued St Croix. Hit a bad squall on the way in but made it back ok. They wouldn't touch the bucktails all on gulp n spearing.

Tight lines n hold on to them bent rods!!!!

Nice catch! clp  That had to be a great feeling!

I lost a homemade rod and a Calcutta 250 in the bay behind the sod banks about 16 or 17 years ago.  Maybe next time you're out you can see if you can snag that too. ;)

One time when we were diving I came across a rod and reel on the bottom.  When I picked it up I thought this really looks like mine.  Once we got back on the boat I found out that one of the guys made a cast with my rod and lost it over the side.  Any closer and it would have it me in the head.
