I receive a call from Capt Allen (Reel Class) this morning. He directed me to another fishing sight cfzd ;D where he came across a newpaper article written up from the early 1980s that someone had posted about a beach blitz of bass. He mentioned that a Joe Gogan was in the article. Thus the reason for calling. Yes, that was me. TT^
Allen, thanks for the phone call. Since reading that article I have had that day on my mind for the entire morning. It brought back very fond memories of those days. I fished the beach at that time, learning from my wife's uncle, who is now deceased. What a great guy he was and an avid surf fisherman.
Again Allen, thanks for the call. It really did make my day. chrz
Here is the article.

Many big fish were beached that day. I recall one guy having two fish over fifty pounds each!
My fish was caught on a six inch florescent green needlefish. I just changed the lure after seeing the person fishing next to me continuously hooking up with one and I was getting only a few fish on my tin/eel the hot lure at that time. My first cast with the needle fish hooked up with my biggie. The fish made two solid, continuous long runs before tiring from the drag pressure. I was using a 9' Ugly Stick with a Daiwa reel spooled with 12# Berkley Trilene mono.
Me in my back yard with the fish.

The weight seems accurate judging by the belly on that cow. Are you gonna wear that flannel on Saturday? ;D
