NJDEVIL July 3 Report
« on: July 03, 2008, 04:55:05 PM »
Launched at Rumson launch at 5:45 headed to the Shrewsberry inlet. Dad says lets head out to the bug light, so off we go. Little rough with the wind for the 16' NJDEVIL but we took it slow and steady. Fished number #15 bouey to #12 bouey. Good action but all shorts. It got silly I was catching 4 to 1 for poor dad. I was using char. teaser with char. swimming gulp mullet and bottom hook char, teaser white swimming gulp mullet with killie. I caught 16 fish from 10" to 16-1/4". Dad caught 6 fish from 14"to 17-7/8" not on keeper between us. We still had a great day. Had to use 6oz to hold bottom also caught some BIG searobins. Great mental health day, can't wait to go out again. I need some keeper to try Nick's Sea Luna recipe. Have a happy and safe fourth guys.

NJD, nice report and good details.Sounds like your Dad was just giving you a head start before the keepers come his way. Enjoy the fourth too.

Good report, and at least you and your Dad had action. The bite is off on everything, I think due to the south winds. No bigger fish of any type seem to be feeding, and the smaller ones are always more aggressive, regardless. I'm finding the same thing in the Canal with stripers. If that wind would change, I think things will break wide open for everyone.

Forgot to post got me first ever double, two 15" fluke. Thought I had a keeper, two 15" fluke on one line I think that should have been a keeper.
