Fished the pond for a few hours again last night. Livelined a 2-3 inch greensunfish for a catfish but didn't get anything on that. Also tossed some small soft plastics and right before I left I put a piece of beef jerky on the hook. My first big surprise came when a small bullhead too the soft plastic. First time I ever caught a catfish on a lure. Next big surprise came when a huge 20+ inch catfish took my little 1/8 inch piece of beef jerky 2 feet from the bank. This fish scared the crap out of me so close to my feet. I fought it for about 10 seconds, the fish surfaced and showed its head, then turned its head quickly down, dove, and spit the hook. For the brief time I got a good look at it, I'd say it was 20+ inches and a channel cat. I sure hope it wasn't a bullhead cause I might've lost the state record. Fished for a hour after that trying to find the large cat again without any luck.

Where were you fishing from? I've passed by warinanco plenty of times but never thought about fishing there. I guess it's time to try it out!
