Had Jule Raichle charter the boat today. Jule had his son Andy, brother Wayne, as well as Joe and Frank aboard making it a 5 man crew.
Ran south and east, fished some snags in 55-70' of water to start since we had no drift for fluke. Slow pick at best with seabass and a few ling, some fish going in the box.
Made a few shifts, picked away a bit more, then once the wind kicked in, we switched gears and focused on fluke - wound up with about 40 flatties, but only 2 went in the box (one right @18" and the other @19"). The rest were postage stamps to roughly 14".
To finish the day we hit another seabass snag, and had real good fishing for about a half hour before we called it quits by 3.
Overall a good day, boated over 50 seabass, with about half being legal, only keeping fish over 13" - ~40 fluke, 2 keepers, a half dozen ling, and some trash fish.
Big surprise of the day: Frank "nailed" an estimated 48"/30# Brown Shark on a fluke rig - she was swimming with us for a while, then inhaled a rig on the way up. Great fight on the light tackle we were using! Andy has pics on his cell phone - waiting for that later.
Wish we had more fish for the box, but we still wound up OK. Great crew - great fishing with these guys!
